In 2024, Abraham will premiere two evening-length works, Cassette Vol. 1 in Hamburg, German in August, and in December ‘Dear Lord, Make Me Beautiful’ at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City.

A.I.M by Kyle Abraham Honors Three Outstanding Individuals at Annual Homecoming Gala: Bebe Neuwirth, Chris Calkins, and Adam Pendelton. The Homecoming Gala will take place on at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers (Pier 61) on Sunday, October 6, 2024. The Gala begins with a pre-reception at 4pm followed by 'Sunday Supper,' A.I.M by Kyle Abraham Company performances and remarks. The Homecoming Gala will also host a live and silent auction. Amy Saunder, Jordan Miller, and Tiffany Mangulabnan are the three co-founding artistic directors of konverjdans (converge/dance), the women-led, Brooklyn-based contemporary ballet company that has been creating and presenting dance in NYC since 2016. The team recently presented its 8th season of their contemporary ballet HYPHA in Brooklyn, NY which showcased performances choreographed by each of the women. We spoke to the three artistic directors about this year’s HYPHA, their influences, and what we can look forward to next.

'I value spontaneity and my initial impulses. They usually are the best ones,' says Karla Puno Garcia. 'Then I take some time away from it, and when I revisit with fresh eyes, I have a richer perspective.' Garcia is an Emmy nominated choreographer and one of Dance Magazine's 2024 '25 to Watch'.

“As a choreographer, I understand the fragility and power of physical gatherings,” says Kyle Marshall, founder and artistic director of Kyle Marshall Choreography (KMC). “It is how our medium exists.” Marshall is a choreographer, performer, and teacher who sees the dancing body as a container of history, an igniter of social reform and a site of celebration. Kyle is a former member of the Trisha Brown Dance Company, Doug Elkins Choreography etc., and Tiffany Mills Company. Kyle received a 2018 NY Dance and Performance Juried Bessie Award, a 2020 Dance Magazine Harkness Promise Award and a 2020 Bessie Honoree for his revival of Colored (2017). He has also received choreographic fellowships from Princeton University, Center for Ballet and the Arts, and residencies from Monira Foundation, 92nd st Y, CPR, and Bethany Arts Community.

NYU Abu Dhabi celebrates its 10th anniversary season with 55 performances featuring over 30 global and local artists, showcasing a diverse array of talent and cultural experiences.

“Trusting my gut is something I've always done,” says Hector Lopez. “Once I knew I wanted to dance, I knew that I was going to, and my mind was not going to let me stop.” Lopez is a native Bronxite and New York-based dancer, teacher, and choreographer. Since graduating from Dartmouth College with a degree in Theater Studies in 2012, Lopez has worked as a professional dancer under the choreographic direction of Bryan Tanaka, Yanis Marshall, Kyle Hanagami, Dani Vitale, Ashle Dawson, Luam Keflezgy, Ramon Baynes, and Yvonne Marie-Sain. His credits to date include artists such as Mariah Carey, Khalid, Halsey, Prince Royce, Pabllo Vittar, and Todrick Hall as well as industrial work with Hemes, Samsung, Adidas, and Moncler. He has also appeared as himself on TV shows including Real Housewives of NY, Owning Manhattan on Netflix, and Dancing Queens on Bravo.

Accent Dance NYC has announced a first look at A Place for Us, a new work by commissioned choreographer Danielle Diniz. The intimate in-studio showing will take place onFriday, September 6, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Open Jar Studios.

 The Joyce Theater Foundation will welcome the return of Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. Along with two works from in-demand Black choreographers, DCDC becomes the first African American company to add master choreographer Paul Taylor's Esplanade to its repertoire, with performances at The Joyce Theater from October 1-6.
